Naughty in the Backseat would like to welcome Jemima Valentino to the blog!

She is visiting today to share some information about her latest release, The House on Hundred Hill.
The House on Hundred Hill: The Nephilim Book One – Blurb
Jessica Rylan has spent her entire life trying to fit in, despite feeling deep down that she doesn’t quite belong. A slave to passions that she doesn’t quite understand, she does her best to simply ignore her burgeoning sensuality. Little does Jessica realise that a seemingly chance encounter with the handsome Nate Black will turn her world upside down.
All it takes is one garden party invitation to pull her into an ancient struggle, one where she must place her trust in Nate and his mysterious brother Draven to survive. As Jessica becomes seduced by the ancient and mystical world of the Nephilim, she finally begins to understand her own dark desires. Because Draven Black is searching for something… Something only Jessica can provide.
Excerpt:
His accent had a strong hint of old London, mixed with something far more pronounced, from somewhere Jessica thought she should recognise but simply couldn’t place.
“I’m from a lot of places Lady Jessica,” Nate replied, sounding amused. “But yes, you’re right, my brother and I were born in London.” He smiled at her warmly.
“But…” she swallowed nervously, uncertain if she had actually spoken aloud.
“The question was on the tip of your tongue,” Nate stated simply. “I just removed it for you. Now, come.” He pulled on her hand and she followed blindly, pushing the oddity of the moment to the back of her mind. Nate led her through several large rooms, all complete with their own colour theme, walls and furniture perfectly matching the natural features of the old mansion.
“Who does this gorgeous house belong to?” she asked, a hint of awe in her voice.
“My brother is the master of this house, in more ways than one,” Nate replied. “He’s around somewhere and he’ll be along to introduce himself, he’s desperate to meet you.” Nate pushed open a set of glass patio doors with his free hand and stepped aside to guide her into the garden. “You will have the pleasure of his company soon enough.” He smiled and laid a large hand on the small of her back, ushering her outside into the warmth of the evening sun.
The beautiful green lawns were dotted with wandering people, obviously far older than herself and far more familiar with their surroundings. Jessica spotted the man she had seen in the bar, leading the flaxen haired woman around by the hand, moving from couple to couple as they extended their greetings.
Nate watched her with mild amusement. “That’s George Whiting,” he said, following her gaze, “and his girl Emma, they’ve been happily married for about fifteen years now, I think.” He led her towards a small group that had gathered around a large wooden table on the stone patio and pulled a chair out for her. “Lisa, how long has George and Emma been married?”
“Oh, I don’t know, seventeen years maybe,” came the reply from a pretty blonde woman that sat directly opposite Jessica. “Although the collaring ceremony was likely a little before that. You know what George is like, he won’t take no for an answer, especially from any of his girls. Marriage was more of a command than an option.”
Laughter erupted from the table and Jessica smiled nervously, taking a tall glass of champagne from Nate’s outstretched hand. He sat beside her and started the introductions. “Lisa, Mark, Jonathan…I’d like you meet the lovely Jessica Rylan.”
Jessica flushed as she rose from her chair and shook each hand in turn. “It’s nice to meet you all.”
“The Jessica?” Mark responded curiously, his eyes hidden beneath designer sunglasses as he raised his glass of beer in the direction of Nate.
“How do you mean the Jess…” Jessica questioned, but was sharply interrupted by Nate who laid an arm protectively around her shoulders.
“Indeed,” Nate responded curtly. He shot a dark stare in Mark’s direction which silenced him immediately.
“It’s nice to see you too old chap, it’s been a while,” Mark said, abruptly changing the track of conversation. He shifted a little uncomfortably in his seat, stretching out his wiry body as his hand delved beneath the table.
Nate’s features softened as he nodded and smiled. “It has my friend, too long really, life is keeping me busy. The beautiful Rebecca is still as lovely as ever I see.”
Jessica looked in the direction of Nate’s gaze and froze with shock. Mark had his hand firmly placed on top of the head of a slim brunette who was kneeling on a plump red cushion placed on the floor between his knees. Long waves of dark brown hair silently moved in the gentle breeze as the girl was guided by Mark’s firm hold on the back of her neck.
“Oh, she is still as lovely as the day Draven first brought her here,” Mark responded. Jessica was dumbstruck and stared at the young woman as her lips expertly engulfed Mark’s throbbing erection. The girl’s thighs were widely parted and her skirt barely covered the naked flesh beneath. Jessica couldn’t help but stare as the beautiful head bobbed between Mark’s legs with obvious hunger.
“Indeed she is,” Nate casually responded as he offered Jessica a sly wink. “For now though, I’m afraid my brother’s priorities lay elsewhere.”

Welcome to Naughty in the Backseat!

Today we are welcoming Gina Gordon, author of Bound in Lingerie to the blog!
Gina is touring with Goddessfish Promotions to talk about her book, Bound in Lingerie. This, of course, makes one wonder if the author loves Lingerie….so here is Gina to discuss her new book and this topic!
Corsets and Garters and Thongs, oh my!
My characters aren’t the only ones who love lingerie. I do too! I love the satin. I love the lace. I love the sexy feelings it inspires. Needless to say, I have an over-flowing drawer of frilly things.
My favorite type of lingerie is a baby doll. Mostly because it’s the most flattering for my body type but also because I love the naughty/nice appeal to it. Depending on your mood, you can wear a baby doll when you’re feeling cute and sweet or like a sultry siren. But no matter how I’m feeling, cute or sexy, there is something about lingerie that has the ability to make me feel just like those women in the Victoria’s Secret ads.
Since I love lingerie so much, it wasn’t a surprise when I created a series of novellas around it. Each story in my Bare Naked Designs series begins with the hero accidentally seeing the heroine in a sexy piece of lingerie. Amie, the heroine in my last novella of the series, is the wild child, and the most experimental. Not only with her behaviour in the bedroom but also with lingerie. After all, attracting the man of your dreams while you’re half naked in a store window isn’t something most women can say they’ve done.
By no means am I anything like Amie. I’ve never strutted my stuff in public or performed a strip tease in a room full of strangers. But I know just what it feels like to wear something that makes you feel like you can turn heads. However, there’s only one man’s head I aim to turn— and it belongs to my husband.
If you’re a fan of lingerie I hope you’ll read Bound In Lingerie and join Amie as she finds her happily ever after through lingerie.
What’s your favourite thing about lingerie?
Being bound together was never part of the plan.
Amie Woods is living the life she wants, but her search for a man who can keep up with her sexual demands has tested her faith in Happily Ever After. Milton Campbell bears the weight of the world on his shoulders, but when he has the opportunity to re-ignite old friendships, it reminds him of a time in his life when he knew how to have fun.
When the two meet, sparks fly–and not the good kind. Their dislike for one another is second only to the sexual attraction simmering between them. A twist of circumstance lands them in the same bed, and Milton jumps at the opportunity to put his pleasure in Amie’s hands. A two-week fling might be exactly what he needs to bring back his love of life, and Amie can’t throw away the opportunity to be herself–both in and out of the bedroom.
At first, they seemed all wrong for each other. But when ‘casual’ builds into something more, Amie and Milton must decide if they’re willing to risk being bound together by love.
CONTENT WARNING: Contains explicit language, sex, and a torturous strip tease in leather.
Bio: At a young age, Gina knew she wanted to share her stories with the world. It wasn’t until she picked up her first romance novel that she knew how those stories would take shape. Her characters demanded hot and steamy sex. Great sex! And lots of it!
Gina, a self proclaimed happily ever after junkie, loves spinning contemporary tales of knee-bending first kisses, unconditional love and super-hot love scenes.
When she isn’t lost in her own world of romance, Gina spends her time reading, baking cupcakes or catching up on celebrity gossip. Gina lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband and lovable dog.

Excerpt:
“I…” Milton was speechless. He had never been asked that question before, he had never been presented with the opportunity to leave his sexual satisfaction in the hands of someone else.
The pink bra Amie wore cupped her breasts perfectly, the slight swell spilling out just enough to make his head spin as she leaned over, smoothing her hands up his bare chest to his shoulders. “Milton?”
“You want to tie me up?”
“I think the question is, do you want to be tied up?” Her eyes sparkled with desire but also something else. Something dangerous and enticing. Something he had forgotten a long time ago–freedom.
He was a successful businessman running a multi-million dollar corporation, and that meant he called the shots. He pulled the strings. Not the other way around. But maybe Aleks was right. Maybe he should have a little fun while he was in town. And this firecracker seemed like the perfect opportunity.
Milton lifted himself off the mattress and hovered over her body. “I could have you right now.” One quick movement and he straddled her, while his fingers made quick work of her bra. He had noticed the front clasp during his inappropriate staring. “Take you any way I want.”
He saw the fire flare in her eyes at his actions, but she remained cool. “You could…but you won’t. And I have a feeling, not unless I tell you to.”
Naughty in the Backseat would like to welcome Kiki Howell to the blog! Today she is celebrating the release of her latest book, Working out the Kinks. Kiki is a multi-published author whose books are on the steamy side! Here’s a sample of some of the books she has written!
Working Out The Kinks
by Kiki Howell
Published by Rebel Ink Press
Genres: Pagan, Contemporary, Erotic Romance
Length: Short Story
Adult Content Warnings: Explicit Graphic Language and Sex Magic with BDSM Elements
Making an appointment with his ex-girlfriend under a fake name, David buys himself one hour to get her attention. Hoping to apologize and remind her of their time together, he intends to do whatever he has to in order to make Meredith, a practicing Wiccan, forgive him for being idiot enough to have listened to those around him which meant choosing his political aspirations over love.
Meredith is resistant to let David anywhere near her heart again. Desperate, David plays all his trump cards and suggests a sexual magick ritual which incorporates the BDSM lifestyle he and Meredith used to experiment with. The methods he uses may be unconventional, like sensory deprivation and sensation play intended to build trust and to achieve altered states of consciousness. But David is more than willing to do whatever it takes if he can just get Meredith to agree.
Kiki Howell Bio:
Ever since she was young, Kiki Howell has loved to listen to a well-woven tale with real characters,
inspired plots, and delightful resolutions. Kiki could spend hours lost in a book, and soon she knew that creating lives, loves, and losses with just words had to be the greatest thing that she could do. To that end, she pursued her study of literature and writing, earning a bachelor’s degree in English. She then followed in a Master’s program in Creative Writing.
“After a long break having my boys, I finally just had to write again. And, as soon as I gave the stories the space, they entered it. It’s both awesome and humbling to find the words in my mind become characters on a page and create their lives.”
She has now had over twenty stories published between five different small presses. She could not be more thrilled or grateful to see her creations polished and out in the real world. Please look around. Although, a bit of caution, most of her stories tend to hang out on the graphically sexy side of town.
Kiki resides in the Midwest with her incredibly handsome and talented, singer/songwriter husband and two children. When she is not writing, she is spending time with her family, reading, baking or knitting.
Her biggest dream is to have a novel she writes be made into a movie that her husband creates the soundtrack for, and then cruise to Alaska with her family on the money they make.

Working Out The Kinks EXCERPT:
“Your last client is in your massage room.” The receptionist tilted her head toward Meredith, giving a wry smile but then grimacing as she looked away.
“Thanks.” Meredith sighed, rolling her eyes as she rapped her knuckles on the door to announce her arrival.
What was that about? Taking a deep breath, she swept into the room. One more massage, and I can soak my tired muscles in a hot bath at home.
“Hello,” she said to the body on her table while grabbing a bottle of oil.
She stopped short of turning back around. Cologne assaulted her. The potent mix of patchouli and musk with a hint of oak reminded her of the man who’d left her heart bruised and battered. Meredith blinked hard as if she could shut down her mind before some blissful memory could wallop another punch.
The client shifted on the table. “Hey, Mere.”
Swinging around like a moth drawn to a buzzing light, air whooshed from her lungs moments before the oil bottle hit the floor. “David?”
“Yes. Gave a false name when booking the appointment. Now, I have your undivided attention for the next hour.”
She stepped back in defiance of her need to rush into his arms and retrieved the plastic bottle instead. “Why?”
“Because we need to talk. Here, this way, you can’t walk away. I’ve already paid for my time.”
“Paying is easy for you.”
“You can begin the massage now. The clock is ticking,” he stated in a business-like tone.
Meredith sucked half her top lip into her mouth and bit down, every muscle in her face tight to avoid her unexplainable need to smile. David was tapping his wrist where his watch should be just as he’d done to her a hundred times before to get her moving. With a confident half-grin, he laid back down.
“Really? You want me to touch you?” She hadn’t quite meant for the thought to come out of her mouth, but she felt as if someone was pressing her to death.
With each step toward her ex-boyfriend, another stone was added to the imaginary board across her chest which had her laboring for breath.
But, he already tried me as a witch.
The idea of that, her conviction and thus banishment from his life, spurred her forward. Thoughts of getting even, of squeezing a sore muscle too tightly, loomed like a silver lining around a storm cloud.
Stop it! You’d never. Concentrate! Meredith reviewed the steps to a full body massage like she was back in school. Use sensitivity when making first contact with your client’s body. Her hands floated above his skin. The heat of his energy challenged her fingers, and she willed each tensed-to-the-point-of-shaking finger into a semi-state of relaxation as they moved an inch above the sculpted latissimus dorsi muscles of his back. Naming each superficial layer, she hoped would keep her on task.
“I miss you, Mere.” David’s voice was muffled from the table.
Blinking against the sting in her eyes, she lingered over his skin. The thought of her palms meeting with his flesh tightened her center, and her need warred with the nervous way her stomach rolled. Meredith wanted the rush of blissful sensuality despite the threat of emotional damage which slithered over her skin, a cold reptile squeezing the life from her already broken heart.
“Did you hear me?” He turned to her.
A tear slipped from her eye. Ripples of water down her cheeks had become commonplace this last month being separated from him. These tears came as no surprise, and neither did the warm anger bubbling up to the surface.
“What difference does it make?” she clipped, answering both his question and her reluctance to give in to the pleasure of stroking her hands over his skin. What remained hidden from her view under the strip of the white towel over his butt was crystal clear in her mind.
Naughty in the Backseat would like to welcome Daisy Harris, author of Studenstein to the blog. Daisy is touring her book with Goddessfish Productions today. She is handing out a $25.00 Barnes & Noble gift card to one random commenter from the tour. For more place to leave a comment check out the tour schedule HERE. Here’s what Daisy had to say about her new release!
It’s Alive! The Mad Science of Studenstein
Hi gals, and thanks for having me on the blog today!
I’m here to sing the praises of my newest release, Studenstein! In case you were wondering—yes. The answer is, “Yes, it is about a gorgeous male sex-slave-Frankenstein thingy.”
His name is Royce Harden, and he is delicious. He’s tall, dark and handsome with a wicked smile and knowledge of sex to put the Kama Sutra to shame. It’s all in his programming—the computer chips and upgrades installed by his makers at Synadate. Royce has it all… Well, except for liberty, and free will. But a certain female named Shani plans on fixing that by freeing the slave-boy from his horrid, horrid life of having sex all day long. J
In case you were wondering, Studenstein is meant to be funny. I suppose if it were humorous enough, I wouldn’t have to point that out. But there you have it. Royce is a lot smarter than Rocky from Rocky Horror Picture Show. He’s more along the lines of Lisa from Weird Science. Except Royce would rather be the one being ordered to “Drop and give me twenty.” He likes it when people watch him flex.
I can’t seem to talk about my Love-Bot series without mentioning Weird Science. Released at a time in my life when I was very impressionable, that movie effected how I’d feel about Frankenstein monsters for the rest of my life. It also influenced how I think about computers and even science fiction. The premise was completely absurd, and yet awesomely awesome.
(Similar to Earth Girls are Easy, which also benefitted from a kickin’ soundtrack.)
Weird Science proved that viewers can disregard the most absurd plot devices conceivable if they 1. Involve computers, and 2. Shed insight on a deeper truth. The take-home message of Weird Science was that the boys created a woman to be everything they wanted only to find that she wasn’t what they wanted at all.
Studenstein is similar, but different. Royce learns that all the upgrades, looks and charm in the world won’t get him the woman he loves if he’s too frightened to reach for freedom.
I like to imagine Studenstein borrows from a collection of cult classics and sci-fi tropes, while remaining true to the “erotic novella” formula. Cobbling the story together was definitely work for a mad scientist. But if two dorky high school kids could incarnate Shelly LeBrock, I figured I could build myself a stone cold stud.
Comments or questions? Respond for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble!
Birkenstock-wearing glamour girl and mother of two by immaculate conception, Daisy Harris still isn’t sure if she writes erotica. Her paranormal romances start out innocently enough. However, her characters behave like complete sluts. Much to Miss Harris’s dismay, the sex tends to get completely out of hand.
If you like science-y subplots, fantastical creatures, and red-hot chemistry, you’ll love Daisy Harris.

Studenstein (Book two in the Love-Bots series)
A man built for sex… A woman who wants more…
Freedom fighter Shani Brown is determined to drag the ungrateful Royce back to her team in Seattle. Despite his denial of mistreatment, she wants to give him a chance at a better life. Due to her horrific past as an unlicensed love-bot, Shani never plans to have sex again. But Royce’s makers punish him remotely with crippling pain. His only escape is to orgasm. Never one to turn her back on a job, Shani soon finds herself servicing him—and soon after, caring for him.
Love-bot Royce Harden wasn’t looking to be rescued, especially not from the San Francisco BDSM club where he was having a perfectly good time. But rescued he was—by a hellcat bent on delivering him to her people. As Royce starts to trust Shani, he begins to dream of freedom. But freedom comes with a price. Royce must face his vanity, his makers, and even the loss of his sexual upgrades if he’s going to be the man Shani deserves.
Excerpt:
Shaniqua! You stop thinking about that boy’s butt right this second! Shani didn’t know where that voice in her head came from, since she’d never had a mother in her undead life. But yeah, that voice in her head, her “superego” Frank called it, always called her by her full name.
So as she led Royce around the outside of the building, Shani focused on the quiet ticks of birds, the rustle of leaves, anything to take her mind of those little dimples that had shown right below his hipbones, or his deep and intriguing groan. As they walked, Shani calculated their distance from the van. Q-ter’s transmitter would only block Royce’s signal within one city block. The bathrooms weren’t all that far away, but Shani wasn’t accustomed to greenery and open space. Without urban landmarks, she didn’t trust her sense of distance.
His biceps flexed under her grip—not pulling away, but maybe trying to warn her he could. Shani’d touched Royce more in the past few hours than she’d touched any man since her captivity. She wanted to think it was because the assignment demanded she lead him about—gripping his firm upper arm—in case he tried to escape, but that voice in her head knew better.
Shaniqua! Let go of the boy-toy! In the dark, his skin felt warm and hard in her hand. It was a relief when she blinked in the bright halogen lights of the ladies’ room. No matter how pretty or tempting Royce Harden might be, Shani would never be able to stomach having sex again. And almost but not doing would be worse than never having tried at all.

Welcome to Naughty in the Backseat! Today we are welcoming Scarlett Scott, author of Reprieve to the blog. She is touring her book around the blogs with the help of Goddessfish Promotions. She is giving away a $10.00 Amazon gift card to a commenter from the tour. To see a list of stops and find more places to leave a comment, click HERE.
The questions we asked Scarlett is “How does being an author affect you as a reader?” Here’s what she has to say!
Being an author makes me appreciate books much more than I did before. I had a very limited concept of how much effort it takes to produce a book until I entered the publishing world. A great deal of work goes into the process, not just by the author but by the publishing house as well. There are editors, final line editors, cover artists, and many others who are all integral parts along the way to completion.
Then, after the book finally makes it into the world, the work starts all over again with marketing. I have to admit I used to think the process was fairly simple and that after an author was published she could sit back and people would automatically love her books. Now I realize how completely wrong I was.
Even so, I’m a much more particular reader than I used to be. I can’t help but read a book the same way I would read my own works in progress. I’m a tough critic on every book I read, including mine. Sometimes, that makes it more difficult for me to enjoy reading. I try to turn off the writer switch but don’t always succeed.
The other side effect of being an author is that I have less time to be a reader for pleasure. Most of my reading time is spent on research and rereading my own books. I’m trying to get better at making time for fun reading. My romance TBR pile is quite massive at the moment. If only I could find the time to start whittling it down!

It’s been a year since Sophie lost her husband and daughter in a car wreck but time hasn’t healed her wounds. A desperate choice leads her to Trevor, the handsome stranger who saves her life and leaves her wanting more than just a few steamy kisses.
Trevor is content living the fast-paced life of a successful NYC entrepreneur. The last kind of complication he needs is a troubled woman like Sophie. But he’s immediately drawn to her even if his bachelor instincts scream for him to run.
As Sophie struggles to fight her growing feelings for Trevor, she’s torn between her past and the future. Somehow, she has to find the strength to finally let go and move on with a man who is everything she never thought she wanted.
Excerpt:
“Sophie, I want to kiss you.”
His grip on her waist tightened, pulling her body into contact with his. Every inch of his muscled form pressed into her softness. Her breath left her lungs in a faint whoosh. The feel of him against her was so arousing, so right. His arousal pressed against her abdomen.
“Do you want me to kiss you, Sophie?” Trevor’s warm breath fanned her lips.
“No. Yes.” She blinked. “I don’t know.”
She couldn’t do this. Peter’s memory deserved better than this, her pawing some stranger in the kitchen. He had been such a good, kind man. He deserved better.
But even as the thoughts swirled through her mind, she was pressing closer to Trevor, basking in his heat and touch. She ran her hands up his arms, then down over his chest, enjoying the ripple of powerful muscles beneath her fingertips.
Trevor’s lips were half an inch from hers, on the brink of the kiss she so desperately craved. All she had to do was lean into him.
“Kiss me, Sophie.”
She hesitated for the briefest second, then leaned forward, brushing her lips hesitantly over his. He groaned, his hands roaming over the small of her back in a caress. The chaste kiss deepened as Trevor angled his lips over hers, applying just enough force to make her want more.

Stepping out of the Office
First, I’d like to thank the naughty ladies in the backseat for letting me drive today! I’m sure they’re enjoying getting to sit in the back and relax (yes, that’s a euphemism) while someone else does all
the work! *wink* Well, I’m happy to be the someone today.
The ladies asked me a really tough question. How has being an author affected my reading? The first, and most obvious answer is that writing has taken a huge hunk (no, that isn’t a euphemism) out of my leisure time. But, I’m a resourceful sort, and it didn’t take me long to figure out that something else would have to go in order for me to have reading time. I’m not going to tell you what I decided to forgo, but it begins with house and ends with work. Not that I was ever really into that sort of thing, but I’ve found that if I leave it long enough, hubby will get the message and pick up the slack. I don’t recommend this method of getting your husband to help around the house, but I’ve kept mine a very long time, and trained him well. Shhh! Don’t tell him that last part!
Many people want to know if I read in the genre I write in, and the answer is yes, and no. I read some, especially things my friends have written – because I want to be nice, and because they write some really good stuff. When I shut off my computer in the evening, the last thing I want to do is go right back to the office. Erotic romance is my day job. Like everyone else, reading is a mini vacation for me, so I usually look for something very different from what I worked on all day long.
For me, that usually means a romance of some sort. My favorites have always been historical – regency to be exact, and I’m a sucker for a easy contemporary romance like Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series. I generally don’t read much paranormal, but I got hooked a long time ago on the Arcane series Jayne Ann Krentz writes as Amanda Quick, and the contemporary version she writes under her JAK name.
Perhaps as an author, I’m more aware of the mechanics of writing, but if the story is really good, I don’t care if the author broke all the rules of grammar, or if she shifts point of view every other sentence. If you can drag me so far into the story that I don’t notice the flaws (and every book has them), then I’ll keep coming back for more. Rules were made to be broken. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
The hero in my latest release, STILL TAKING CHANCES, knows all about breaking the rules. Elgin Huddleston started at an early age, but as an adult, he’s gone out of his way to make amends. That doesn’t mean he plays by the rulebook all the time. Sometimes you just have to take a chance, and do what your heart tells you to do.
Elgin is the ultimate bad boy, but he’s met his match in Mary Beth Winters, the petite dominatrix who lives across the street. Mary Beth thought she was through taking chances, but there’s something about Elgin that convinces her to throw caution to the wind, and unlock her heart and her toy box, one more time.
Author Bio –
Roz Lee has been married to her best friend, and high school sweetheart, for over three decades. These days she splits her time between their home in rural New Jersey, and Southern California, where her husband works. Even though she’s lived on both coasts, her heart lies in between, in Texas. A Texan by birth, she can trace her family back to the Republic of Texas. With roots that deep, she says, “You can’t ever really leave.”
Roz and her husband have two grown daughters they couldn’t be more proud of, and are currently raising a ten-year-old Labrador Retriever, Betty Boop, who isn’t aware of her canine heritage.
When Roz isn’t writing, she’s reading, or traipsing around the country on one adventure or another. No trip is too small, no tourist trap too cheesy, and no road unworthy of traveling.

Her eyes raked over him and he had the impression she was mentally undressing him as thoroughly as he’d undressed her in his mind. Something about her perusal made him want to squirm, but he held still. “Do you always wear black?”
“Yes, Mistress.” Yeah, he could play this game. She jumped off the high stool she’d been sitting on, and walked around the worktable. He followed her with his eyes, admiring the curve of her legs and the fine bones in her feet and ankles. She stopped and dug around in a large pink canvas bag that sat on the end of the flower-print covered sofa along the long wall opposite the door. His heart almost stopped beating when she pulled out a serious looking set of leather handcuffs and a length of chain. Whoa there! Where the hell did she get those? All the fight went out of him.
“Hold out your hands.”
Hud allowed her to fasten the cuffs around his wrists. She hooked them together with a short length of chain that looked like it came from a hardware store. If he twisted his hands around, he’d be able to unfasten the cuffs, he reasoned, as panic threatened to set in. He was momentarily distracted by the sweet curves of her ass as she walked away from him. She picked up a step stool and dropped it next to his feet. “Take your shoes off.”
He toed his shoes off and kicked them to the side. When he looked up from his task, Mary Beth was on the step stool, a head above him. In one hand, she held an S hook attached to a chain and pulley, the other she reached down to him. “Give me your hands.”
Hud swallowed hard and lifted his shackled hands. For the first time, he thought he might have underestimated Mary Beth Winters. She looped the chain at his wrists through the hook, and with a hand on the pulley chain, she jumped off the stool. Hud watched in dawning horror as she pulled the chain tight enough to make his shoulders burn and secured the pulley chain to a hook on the wall, well out of his reach even if he had his hands free. He cursed under his breath. How had he missed the chain pulley overhead? If he’d been on a mission, a mistake like that would mean he’d be dead.

The inspiration for the title of my book-
Do you ever wake up in the morning with a song playing in your head or just a few lines of one? It happens to me once in awhile. I don’t know why because it’s never a song I’ve heard the night before. Maybe it makes its way into my dreams or something. And yes, sometimes it’s a song I don’t really like and it gets annoying but not always. Sometimes one of those songs can come to my rescue.
Earlier this year I was thinking about what to write next. I’d just finished my Brazen Ladies trilogy which some of you might know are all set during the Regency. I love this period in history and it’s always fun to create Regency characters. I had lots of fun with these stories but felt I needed to do a full 180.
I’m not a fan of Westerns…you know the guy’s type of Westerns without the hunky cowboy but I turned on the TV one day and Silverado was playing on the History Channel. I’d seen it before but decided to watch it again. While I did I thought if my next story featured a cowboy it would definitely be different to one with a Regency Rake as the hero. And really what’s sexier than a cowboy?
I usually let ideas brew in my head for a couple of weeks and scenes and bits of dialogue start forming. I knew that this cowboy would be living in Wyoming and then the name Connor O’Riordan popped into my head. But what was his story…he’s a guy that’s had his heart set on the sales rep but she’s spoken for.
Of course I had to give this guy a happy ending and before you do that you need a happy beginning. I knew I wanted to open the story with the sales rep breaking up with her guy leaving the door wide open for Connor.
Then I thought, well if Connor’s such a hunk then why isn’t he married? I knew he wasn’t commitment shy so what’s his story? Then it hit me he’s had some heartache in the past. I won’t tell you and spoil the story what that is. So with that in mind I knew this really nice and sexy guy deserved to get the girl and have his pain healed.
That was all set in motion and I was ready to begin penning the story. Sometimes it takes me weeks to come up with a title. Don’t know about everyone else but it can be one of the toughest parts of writing a book. When I’m saving a file and don’t have a title yet, I’ll give a strange tag like ‘sexy historical’ but I hate doing it because sometimes the title helps shapes the story.
I brainstormed for a few days and just couldn’t come up with anything for this one but I was itching to start it and thought the tag line for saving it on my laptop would be ‘sexy cowboy story’. It didn’t sound right but the story needed to be told. That morning I got up and started to hear the song ‘Then Came You’ playing in my head. One line stuck out, the bit about never knowing love before… And I thought Eureka, I got it. This story will be Then Came You. Connor O’Riordan didn’t know true love until Gillian Matthews walked into his life.
Luckily not all of them give me that much trouble and this time a song that I couldn’t get out of my head came to the rescue.
Blurb-
Connor O’Riordan had his heart set on Gillian Matthews the first day she stepped onto his ranch but the only problem was she had a boyfriend. He’d made her promise that if the two of them ever broke up she’d tell him. Gillian is a woman of her word and when Connor finds out she’s now available he’ll do anything to woo and romance the lady of his dreams. The best way to start…invite her to spend Thanksgiving at his ranch.

Today: Guest post and Contest Part 2
Now you know I’m an evil bitch and you are cussing up a storm if you only ready book one Running in Fear: Escaped. Don’t you hate it when you are left hanging? Well here is a sample of book two. Do I leave you hanging again? Oh, I wouldn’t be that heartless (smiles and rubs hands together).
Little tidbit for you: at the age of fifteen, I actually did run away to join a traveling carnival. I think back on it now and I realize it was to get away from my step-father. Was the carnival exciting, NO! I was scared half out of my mind. Had to hitch hike to each site, took baths in hoses or bathrooms of the malls we settled on. As to where I slept, in the back of a semi which was all greasy from the rides they moved in them. Each of us had an account set up at the diner so we could eat, but it would come out of our checks which usually left us nothing. Then there was the men and the drugs. Yes, drugs and men so scary to a fifteen year old who was thrilled when her mother found her two weeks later to take her home.
Book two, Abandoned, is where we see more of Remi, learn more of him and his ways. {Waves hand in front of her face} God is he hot! But the one part of this story that has always stuck with me and is a crucial part of recognizing that Jaycee will always be fighting to overcome her past, is when she starts to have flashbacks.
Excerpt:
Memories of the past surfaced and she cried. Her legs crumbled and she fell to the floor.
Jaycee curled up into a ball, flashes of Curt’s cruelty surfacing once again. She rocked back and forth. The only word she could speak was “no.”
As if in a cloud far, far away, Jaycee heard Dane and Remi. They whispered words to calm her down, but nothing worked. Gaston burst into the room.
“Slowly move away from her. You’re too close to her. She’s terrified right now, and she hasn’t had a reaction like this in a long time. What the fuck did you guys do?” Gaston demanded and kneeled down beside her. “It’s okay, Jaycee, I’m here.” Dane and Remi moved back. Jaycee knew what was going on and could understand everything, but she couldn’t control her body. She lowered her head and laid it down on her knees. She took a deep breath. “It’s not their fault. I just wasn’t prepared for the emotions. They were so heavy and thick. I felt suffocated like before. I’ll get better, I promise,” she whispered.
Her father stood in the doorway. Anger radiated from him. Kate stood, twisting her hands together. Shelly burst into the room and ran to her. She pulled her up and into the bathroom away from prying eyes.
“It’s okay, Jaycee, you’re away from everyone.” Shelly plopped her butt onto the bathroom counter and gave her the space to get herself together.
Jaycee Manz has finally found her mates. Among others of her kind, you would think she would be happy. But like everything else, achieving a dream often comes with a price. How can a person feel totally abandoned when surrounded twenty-four hours a day by her mates? Can she trust them not to rip out her heart?
Remi, Dane, and Mark love their mate Jaycee. Now all they have to do is figure out how to get her to bond with them. Remi knows he’s going to have to force the issue, but he’s determined to have Jaycee at his side no matter what the cost.
The pack has always been first in Dane’s mind, but how does he trust his mate to her duties if she can’t even control her emotions? He knows Jaycee needs help and guidance, but what else is she hiding? Will he have the patience needed to deal with her? Or will he just say the hell with it and tie her to his bed forever?
Being Remi’s bonding partner is not an easy job, but then neither is being Jaycee’s mate. Not only does Mark need to control her, but he also wants to love her. Can she settle down and accept the three of them? If his bonding partner has anything to do with it, she will have no choice, but Mark sees problems coming and knows someone is going to be hurt. ..

Welcome to Trinity Blacio!
Book 1
I don’t know why I agree to do these blogs when every single time the first thing you must write is an introduction and I suck big time at introducing myself. Oh, sure I can tell you I’m tall, skinny, built all nice and curvy, but that would be a dream. Hence the heroines in my story usually talk after me, a curvy, slightly overweight woman. I’m just a plan middle-age woman who wants more out of life.
I’ve lived in Ohio now for past 25 years. I was born here in the same town, Elyria I currently reside in. I have lived in a few other states, my favorite being Minnesota. Sigh, I miss that home, up on the bluff, overlooking the Mississippi river and Wisconsin. I want that house back!
So now I live in a three-bedroom apartment with my two children, daughter 15 and son 12. Of course husband, too, but not even going there at the moment. (Dog House for the past three years) My mom lives about two blocks from us, and his mom lives four doors down—enough said on that front.
I have a younger sister who lives about a mile away and a half brother who lives in Florida, who I just saw last year for the first time in over fifteen years. Talk about a flash back to old time (to the house I loved), but it was great catching up with him. Yes, I’m the oldest, but am I the wisest, NO, and never will be.
Here I am again. I’ve come complete circle. Born here, left here, and came back here after thirty years, but will I stay here in Elyria, Ohio? I hope the answer to that is NO. I want out and as soon as I’m able, I will be out of here so fast it will make everyone’s head spin. However, my kids come before me and they always will. For now they want to stay here and finish school, so we stay for now, but in six years, the youngest will be in college or on his own, and then I’m out of here.
I see myself in a nice apartment with a pool, weight room and up North, I hate heat!! I will be traveling, of course, but I’m starting that next year. I might have to stay put for the kids here now. I will be in Chicago, Tenn., New Orleans next year are all places I haven’t been and conventions I haven’t been to. Yep, I’m doing this for me and no one else. So watch out Trinity Blacio is slowly claiming her independence! With each of these posts I will show you a little bit about myself and about the books in question.
The Running in Fear series first started out as a way to add little bits and pieces of my life into Jaycee the main heroine. I guess that is why she is one of my favorites. She might come off as quirky, weak at times, but deep down she knows what she wants and she’ll get it even after being abused. Nothing and no one will stop her, and if her mates want her then they better catch up and listen up, because eventually she finds her strength and Jaycee uses it.
One might say a person would not recover from the trauma Jaycee had to endure, but how are we to judge someone else’s pain? Jaycee is very much like me in this way, you might hurt me and I’ll be down for a few, but watch out…I come up swinging.
“
What do you think you are doing?” Dane asked. She watched him close the bedroom door behind him, locking it.
“I’m packing. Didn’t you hear me wolf boy? I have to get out of here. I won’t get anyone hurt because those beaurocratic assholes screwed up.” After that snappy reply, she went into the bathroom and gathered her stuff. Large hands settled on her curvy hips and held her in place.
He pressed his body to hers and snarled, “Are you questioning my ability to protect you?” He sniffed her fragrant hair, and then followed the sweet scent to the base of her neck. “I have taken care of this pack and family for the past ten years. I was a Navy Seal for six years.” Hands traced around to the front of her and pulled her back to his body. “My unit is here now for our annual pack meeting, you couldn’t be any safer.” He stated.
Ready to explain to the stubborn man, she turned her body around to face his big black eyes that bore down into her. Six feet five if not taller, his long black hair, pulled back into a braid. Muscles flex throughout his upper body. She couldn’t love him she just met him but his scent or whatever it was, attacked her hormones. He made them jump around like the Energizer Bunny. Jaycee inhaled deep her legs shook, he held on to her tight.
“Do you feel it, the pull? Your scent drives me crazy too.” He whispered into her ear.
Her eyelids slid down shutting out the entire world, except for the sensual stirrings he caused. Only one other time had he done this to her, and he wasn’t even aware of it.

Guest Post from Leah:
Lessons Learned
It’s been just about a year since Surrender to Sanctuary, my debut novel, was published. Like so many other newbie novelists, I waited for the big day with excitement and just a bit of anxiety, both of which kept me sleepless at night. This was my virgin experience after all! Would the big event live up to my expectations? Would it hurt at times as much as some claimed? Would I look back feeling satisfied, or disappointed, maybe even deflated?
Now, a year later, I guess I’d have to answer “All of the above”! The thrills of those publishing “firsts” will stay with me a long time: First glance at my book cover, first galley read, and a biggie – first touch of that printed book in my hands. (I think I might have slept with a copy that night. <g>) But seeing my book go up for sale on various web sites brought fear and worry along with the joy and pride I expected. It reminded me, in a way, of giving birth, and the book was my newest baby. I needed to care for it, nurture it, make sure it grew and thrived as intended. (Oh the pressure!)
So I devoted myself to launching my baby. That meant blog tours and interviews, meeting new readers, and generally stepping out from my cozy writing cocoon to talk about my book and describing it to virtual strangers and casual acquaintances. It meant revealing the secret life of Leah to friends at work and church whose taste in reading material might not match mine. It meant basking in the praise and compliments of some, and withering under the disappointment and criticism of others.
But as most people, I learn from life’s experiences, good and bad, and I’d like to share a few of the lessons I’ve learned this past year. (Most of them deal with writing, but you can probably apply these to whatever your life’s goals.)
* The greatest blessings of life are family and friends who stick by you even if what you write makes them cringe in embarrassment.
* Everything is relative. People who tell you they like sex in books could be talking about a one-paragraph summary instead of the detailed, three-page scene you wrote.
* Watching sales figures on Amazon probably isn’t the best use of a writer’s time.
* The best use of a writer’s time is writing, working to improve his/her craft.
* Don’t shy away from talking about your work for fear of criticism. When it comes, use it, learn from it.
* Enjoy the journey. Be grateful for the gifts you’ve been given and use them.
Happy reading!
