Mariposa Cruz is here in the backseat to share with us what is on her soundtrack for her book HOWL!
Naked by Avril Lavigne-My heroine, Kate Owens, is a single mother who is unaware of her true wolfish nature. The brooding intro reminded me of Kate’s vulnerability and loneliness. The song is about learning to trust again which fits Howl perfectly.
Love Bites by Def Leppard-The intensity of this rock ballad provides a smoldering backdrop for the love scenes between Kate and Jack.
Foolin’ by Def Leppard –At one point Kate searches the forest for Jack. She knows the rogue wolf who attacked her is also waiting. Foolin’s eerie scream “Is anybody out there?” underscores Kate’s fear.
Animal by Def Leppard—I love the rocking beat and growling lyric “Cry wolf baby”.

Kate’s days become a battle to maintain control while her nights are a disturbing blur of dreams. Will Kate’s nightly madness harm her young daughter?
Lone wolf attorney, Jack Walker understands the reason for his paralegal’s exhaustion and haunted demeanor. Jack has pursued the beast since law school graduation and he knows the creature’s relentless thirst for revenge. Can Jack save Kate from her attacker and her own savage nature?

Ever wondered how to catch a vampire? We here at Naughty in the backseat have long pondered the question so Author Annie Nicholas is here to give us some pointers.
Catching a vampire is not an easy task or for the faint of heart. Killing would appear easier since imprisonment isn’t necessary.
Why would I want to have a vampire? Obviously, you haven’t read any of my books. I take this task seriously because as a writer I want my stories to appear possible. In hunting all dangerous prey considering their weaknesses is tantamount.
So, I made a list of vampire weaknesses because anyone who knows me knows I love my lists and numbers. There are many species of vampires so I wrote all known limitations.
- Sunlight
- Wooden impalement
- Holy relics and water
- Dismemberment
- Fire
- Certain poisons
- Blood
- Sex
I disqualified the dismemberment because I want them alive and functioning.
If the vampire you’re stalking is religious then luring it to a room filled with blessed icons could weaken it enough to be trapped.
There has got to be a cool way to corner one with sunlight. I’ve seen vampires trapped in wells but as the sun rises they get fried. I don’t want them crispy. Maybe we could give them a small recess to hide in?
I’ve killed vampires with fire and even heard of some slayers using flamethrowers but once again it’s with the goal of killing. A fire lined prison would keep your vamp but we still need to catch it and not burn down the place.
Now, I’ve heard certain rare poisons work to incapacitate them. Anne Rice used laudanum and I’ve used my own blue windex colored drug, which the source is still a secret. Delivery is the hard part. Finding a volunteer to drink the poison and then allow a vampire to drink from them is not as easy as it sounds.
Blood and sex is more a desire but can be used as weakness, which brings us to the old bait and trap technique. I’ve used a beautiful, sexy prey animal to lure a vampire to its trap but of course it back-fired. Those creatures of the night can be clever.
As to wooden impalement, it brings us back to death BUT it did inspire me. What if I used really thick iron bars instead? Say four of them that pinned their bodies to the ground. They wouldn’t be able to escape without tearing themselves apart, which brings the dismemberment issue back up.
I guess if the vampire wanted to be caught it would be easier. They are such sneaky creatures. A willing prisoner, he/she wouldn’t try to escape and less apt to hurt you. And what’s a little chain and bondage between friends?
How you would catch a vampire?
Blurb: Caught between two vampires, Connie is torn between Rurik, the one she loves and Tane, the one she’d love to stake.
Hunger burns in Connie Bences’ soul–she craves the blood of her vampire lover, Rurik, but it’s not satisfying her needs anymore. It’s driving her insane. Desperate to find help, Rurik brings her to Rio De Janeiro, where Tane rules the vampire nation.
The back-stabbing vampire almost killed her and Rurik when they’d first met, then used them to obtain his crown. She would rather stake him, but the small drop of Nosferatu blood he’d forced her to drink in Budapest is blooming into a bond, one which ties her life to his. One he won’t hesitate to manipulate.
He admits to binding her so Rurik would have to remain at his side, but their timing couldn’t be any worse. The betrayer finds himself betrayed. Tane’s rule is in upheaval and he’s forced to place his trust in two people who owe him no allegiance—her and Rurik. In the middle of a power struggle, Connie fights to keep her lover, but didn’t plan on Tane slipping into her heart.

1. What was your motivation to become a writer?
It was more a compulsion than a motivation – I loved English at school whether I was reading or writing and when I was in Year 11, my teacher told me I had the potential to be a writer one day if I worked hard. She was my inspiration! Real life got in the way for a while but now I know I do not want to do anything else other than write.
2. How well would you say you know your characters? Shoe size? Favorite food? What side of the bed they sleep on?
I don’t think I ever quite know as much as that but what I do know is how they feel, talk, laugh, yearn, cry…all the emotional stuff is clear and sustainable in my mind at all times. I really feel I know this people inside out.
3. Which one of your characters would you say is the most like you?
Laura’s (Explicitly English) attitude is very much like mine at the opening of the book in that she makes the decision for change – if something happens in life, you have to pick yourself up and decide what you’re going to do to make yourself feel better. It took me a long time to ‘get it’ that life doesn’t fix itself!
4. If your book was being made into a movie would you star as your heroine?
Noooo – Laura is blonde and beautiful. I’m dark and kind of average looking, LOL! The visual inspiration behind Laura was British TV actress, Samantha Womack. (I bet you’ll Google her now!)
5. If you were a dessert which one would you be?
I’m not sure what the proper name is but I think I’d be one of those chocolate sponge desserts that have all the gooey chocolate in the center – I like to think I am rich (spiritually not financially!), appetizing (to my husband at least!) and completely soft-centered!
BIO: Rachel Leigh lives in the UK and is married to her own sexy hero. Even though this is Rachel’s first erotic romance novella, she enjoyed writing it so much, she has two more lined up and almost ready to go off to The Wild Rose Press. When she isn’t writing, you can find her reading, running around after her two daughters….or playing with her husband.
You can find out more about Rachel Leigh www.rachelleigh.co.uk or here www.rachelleighromance.blogspot.com or get your copy of Explicitly English here http://www.thewildrosepress.com/wilderroses/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=790
What made you decide to write erotic romance versus just romance?
I started out writing “just romance” but found my sex scenes were too hot for a lot of NY publishers, back in the dark ages of the 1990s. Instead of toning them down, I decided to heat them up when I discovered Ellora’s Cave and realized there was a big audience of women who like their romance with the bedroom door (and other places, LOL) all wide-open.
How much of your “real life” is included in your books?
Not much, if you’re talking about my sexual adventures! I’ve been married all my adult life to one guy, and we have seven kids–which I guess means we’ve had sex at least seven times over the years. Seriously, most of what’s in my books comes out of my own fantasies, daydreams that add spice to an otherwise pretty “normal” life, although I have drawn a few characters whose jobs and everyday lifestyles are similar to mine and my friends’.
Is there a writing sanctuary that you go to when you write?
Sanctuary? I wouldn’t call it a sanctuary, exactly, but I do most of my writing in a bright, sunny office where nobody except our Russian Blue cat (unoriginally named Mr. Blue) dares come in unless there’s a real emergency. It contains my desktop computer, some books on writing, pictures of some of the kids and whichever ones of my orchid collection are in bloom at any given time. Once in a while, when the weather is pleasantly cool and dry (rare in the part of Florida where I live), I take my laptop outside and enjoy the garden while writing a scene or two. Rarely, when I’m on a tight deadline, I’ll skip events at conferences and hole up in my hotel room to finish up a book or do edits. Most of the time, though, I write in my office where I’ve got a comfy chair and the natural keyboard that keeps my fingers from getting cramped.
If you were going to make your book into a movie what actors would you pick to be your hero and heroine?
Sackmaster? He’s a huge, muscular, goodlooking guy who reminds me more of a NFL defensive lineman (that’s his job in the book) than a movie star. While I was writing the book, I had a shot of the Minnesota Vikings’ Jared Allen on my desktop.
As for Jimmy’s sex slave, Julie, she could be played by Angelina Jolie, looks-wise, although I imagine Angie might have trouble playing a submissive.
If you were a smoothie what flavor would you be and why?
Strawberry-banana. Tart and sweet, the two flavors blended icy-cold make me feel like I’m cheating on my diet without adding tons of the calories that always seem to land right on my butt. Guess that comes with sitting on a chair six-eight hours a day and spending only one in the gym!

Hello Everyone!
We are excited to welcome S.L. Armstrong and K. Piet who are talking about their new anthology Cast the Cards and a little about the Tarot behind it.
When we chose to offer anthologies through Storm Moon Press, we were faced with what themes we would do and, most pressing, what theme would be in our first anthology. We tossed ideas around for a few days, always coming back to the theme of tarot cards. It’s an important aspect of two of the three founders of the press, and so we thought it would be an ideal first. Of course, we were made aware that tarot themes were overdone, but we disagreed. How could something so subjective and mythical be overdone? There’s always a new way to approach the topic of tarot cards, and when we did a little digging, we discovered there wasn’t an anthology quite like what we were proposing (or what we ultimately put together).
We were very lucky in how the various submissions wound up. When we’d put out the call for submissions, we’d not been specific about much. That had been intentional. What we wound up with for our final line up was a beautiful, balanced book filled with intense, erotic stories and warm, gentle romances. Fantastical and contemporary side-by-side, and we’d chosen two M/M, two F/F, and two M/M/F. It’s a wonderful anthology with some excellent authors who were such a joy to work with from beginning to end.
For this blog stop along the tour, we asked our authors to tell us what card in the tarot they most relate to and why. They came through with flying colors, offering some wonderful insights.
[Erik Moore] I identify with the Ten of Wands. The card represents success in a
chosen venture, but with the added caveat that this often results in additional burdens, responsibilities, and stresses. It speaks to me in the sense that I am notorious for taking on more tasks than I can necessarily handle, but consistently managing to accomplish everything, even if it means letting my health or sleep schedule suffer as a result. I have difficulty letting go of tasks or passing them off to others, due to a combination of not wanting to burden others and a belief (rightly or wrongly) that I can perform the task better. (Often, it has been the case that when I have attempted to hand off a task, the end result is unacceptable, so I end up redoing it anyway.)
The Ten of Wands is neither an encouragement nor an admonishment of this state of being, simply an observation. It does imply that an examination of your tasks may be in order, though, and the reversed reading suggests that one or more of the burdens you are carrying are unnecessary. I strive to keep this card in mind when I find myself inevitably feeling overwhelmed, and question whether my task list can be pared down to spare myself some stress. Unfortunately, the answer to that question is frequently “no”, and so the message of the card is perseverance and pacing yourself, which goes a long way to keeping me (arguably) sane.
[S.L. Armstrong] The first time I drew a card to represent myself almost two decades ago, it was The Moon. Since then, if I do not choose it myself as my signifier, it will come up in just about any sort of spread I do. It is a card I am deeply attached to and represents me 100%. I even have a character I am writing who is The Moon personified, and she is one of the characters closest to my heart. The Moon is magic and madness and addiction. It’s fantasy and lies and fear. At the same time, it’s about revealed secrets, tapping into instinct, and facing that in yourself that is darkest and most frightening.
Imaginative and full of change, that pretty much describes me. I’m moody and just brimming with ideas for novels and little stories. I have worlds upon worlds in my head populated with hundreds of people I’ve never met, with hundreds more waiting for their introduction. I am plagued by insecurity and anxiety, and I almost never look at myself with completely clear eyes, but I have a deep sense of spirituality and connection with what I cannot see. The Moon is me, through and through, in almost all respects, and I couldn’t think of another card I’d rather represent.
[K. Piet] I identify with the Page of Cups, which embodies the exuberance and
impulsive innocence of youth with the soothing, if sometimes conflicting, qualities of the emotions and creativity. There is a sense of duality and blurred lines in the card I feel reflected in my own life and personality. While I’m extroverted, I’m very emotionally driven. Part of me is analytical and drawn to the sciences, especially those that involve the human body and all its complexities. Contrast that with the other side, drawn to the fantastical, the dreamer that loses oneself within imaginary worlds of fiction, song, theatre, and circus. Even the balance and fusion of male and female energies exists both in my personality and in the Page of Cups, an androgyny that isn’t apologized for but is accepted as part of the fluid nature of the individual.
The Page of Cups is a dreamer, a messenger, a studious person who uses their knowledge to try to help others. It is a card of beginning, renewal, and sudden inspiration. I often feel that my inspiration comes over me through the intervention of my unconscious mind (such as through my dreams), and it tends to shock the hell out of me, just like the fish that pops out of the goblet to speak to the Page on the traditional rendering of the tarot card. My massage therapy work is holistic and fluid, and my writing ideas tend to burst forth unexpectedly while I take action based on both logic and intuition. Some drawbacks are that I start many things I cannot finish, have a tendency to ramble, and need to both express my thoughts and have an audience receive them. After all, what good is a page holding a cup if there is no one to hear the message and share the wine?
[Janine Ashbless] The tarot card I feel represents me is Strength. In some modern decks it’s known as Lust, and that’s particularly relevant to me.
There are many different artistic interpretations available for this card, but they almost all show a woman and a lion. She may be holding its mouth closed (or opening it to peer inside), riding it or simply relaxing with it. I particularly like it that the imagery is so female-positive. It reminds me of mythological depictions of the great goddesses like Kubaba, Cybele, and Durga, enthroned or accompanied by lions.
This is a woman completely at ease with the deep animal instincts of the psyche. She’s not frightened of it in any way, despite its ferocity and power: she is the one in control. She trusts herself. Representing the higher soul directing and controlling the sexual impulse, in conservative societies this card is often read as emphasizing self-denial. As an erotica writer, I see it as using the sexual instincts and imagination to fuel my creativity. I write stories – powerful, strong, scary, challenging, filthy stories (I hope!) which harness the vitality of my inner lion.
[Emily Moreton] I associate myself most strongly with The Star, and not just
because it’s linked to my birth sign, aquarius, or because I wear one round my neck, as a pentagram pendant. The star signifies optimism and hope for the future, and I’m a big believer in things getting better and in working to make things better. The star also warns against negativity and self-doubt, which may lead to lost opportunities, and sometimes I need to be reminded to seize the day. This is also the card I’d associate most strongly with my heroes, women like the Pankhurst sisters who campaigned for female suffrage in the UK, and Pauline Gower, who was instrumental in women being allowed to fly during World War II – they were all about making the world better, and certainly don’t seem to have let any doubt stand in their way! Finally, the star is a good omen when considering something new; I’m always trying new things, and I never turn down a good omen for them.
[Marie Carlson] I had a hard time deciding what tarot card represents me, because there isn’t one with which I specifically identify, so I turned it over to my friends and readers. I received a few different cards in the responses, but the clear consensus was the High Priestess. I was a little taken aback at first, because I don’t always feel as powerful as being represented by the High Priestess suggests to me, but then they explained their choices and I better understood.
The High Priestess dispenses wisdom tempered with playfulness and justice tempered with mercy. She represents female leadership through both caring and nurturing and strength and power. She is open to possibilities and mysteries and trusts her intuition. She is not afraid of the unknown.
Being associated with the High Priestess is quite a compliment. Though I am intimately aware of how I struggle to balance various parts of my life in a way that allows me to be the change I want to see in the world, I am awed and touched to realize that what my friends and readers see is what I attempt to put out into the world.
To me, the High Priestess has always been about having great power and understanding the responsibilities that come with it. (Yes, I just had a Spider-Man moment there.) Through my writing and my work, I try to change the world, to make it a better world for those who are outside the traditional power dynamics. The world is a dangerous place for us still, and I hope someday the world will change in a way that really does mean life itself gets better and not just that those who are different must learn to survive.
I want to change the world, and being associated with the High Priestess is a really wonderful way to be seen.

I’m super excited about the release of my first lesbian historical romance, Beguiled. Although I’ve written a few contemporary girl on girl stories, this one was really a book from the heart. I’ve always been fascinated with women who summoned the courage to break out of society’s bonds to explore their sexuality.
Since Beguiled is set against the Civil War backdrop of war-torn Georgia, I had to do a bit of research to give my story a historic feel. I chose the outskirts of Jonesboro (the setting for Tara in Gone With the Wind) as the location for Belle’s fictional plantation Rattle and Snap. I also included my love of goats and working with dairy goats into the plot.
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting a local goat dairy so I could take in the sights, sounds, scents, and knowledge of milking goats and making goat cheese.
But ultimately, my characters stole the story from the lush location and even the ornery goats.
An Irish immi
grant, Alice O’Malley, was forced from her home in Boston after it was discovered that she was a lesbian. Seeing little other choice to continue her fight as an abolitionist, she donned a uniform and joined a Zouave unit in the Union Army. After being wounded in the Battle of Jonesboro, Alice is left behind at the home of Belle Holloway.
Belle has been groomed all her life to be a wife and plantation mistress but unfortunate circumstances have left her without a man or any servants except for Uncle Hewlett who is more at home reading Shakespeare than chopping cotton.
Thrust together by circumstances, the two women develop admiration for one another–as well as love–until dangerous events threaten to separate them forever.
Here’s a taste of Beguiled ~ It is a little Naughty 18+
“What we did last night… I’ve done it before,” she said softly. “With a woman.”
I wasn’t ready to hear about that. Women making love to other women…
That was not what I’d done. She merely comforted me when I was upset. Hadn’t she? “I don’t judge you,” I snapped. I sounded harsher than I’d intended.
“It’s why –” she began, but I quickly interrupted.
“Alice, it doesn’t matter. Not to me.” My cheeks burned with a blush, so I made a big pretense of putting the scissors away while she admired her reflection.
I didn’t want to admit it to myself or anyone else, but Alice did possess a very unique sort of beauty — a beauty that intrigued me. I swallowed. Hers was a dangerous, bold beauty that lured me to entertain sinful thoughts.
To want to know more about what she’d done with other women.
“Thank you, Belle,” she said, lifting her gaze to mine in the mirror.
Again, the look of desire shone in her eyes. My stomach turned a somersault, and I struggled with my own physical yearning to be touched again. Why hadn’t the one time sated me? My gaze flicked briefly to her lips, and I wondered what it would be like to feel them against my own, plying, pressing, kissing…
Blinking, I forced the lustful thoughts away and went to the chest of drawers. “You can’t go about the house in that nightgown, and if you’re opposed to wearing a dress, you might as well wear some of Dalton’s clothes.” My voice seemed higher pitched than usual, and I chattered as fast as a squirrel corned by a cat.
“There’s a belt in here somewhere,” I said, rummaging. I sounded nervous. “Ah, here it is.”
But when I gathered up the clothes and turned, I froze at the sight. Alice stood waiting, stark naked. It was an invitation — one I didn’t know if I was ready to accept.
Boldly, my eyes traveled down her body, lingering on her small breasts with their dark peach nipples and lower, down her lean torso to the sparse copse of dark auburn curls at the juncture of long, coltish legs. For someone who’d hidden herself from view for the past two years, she seemed terribly comfortable with her nudity now.
The bandage on her thigh appeared clean. At least she no longer bled. And when I saw that she continued to heal, my thoughts turned dark and lustful.
She cleared her throat, and my guilty gaze shot to hers. My stomach tensed. Her stormy eyes had grown dark. “Put the clothes on the bed, Belle.”
I didn’t argue. I didn’t say a word. Instead, I did as Alice bade me. My pulse stampeded in my veins. Every hair on my body prickled.
The floorboards creaked when she took a step closer. “Pull up your skirts, and bend over the bed.”
I should refuse. I should walk away from this. It was one thing to allow her to touch me in the dark but quite another to submit to it in broad daylight — knowing she’d been with a woman before — knowing I’d gladly be with her again.
I adored exploring each of my heroines’ strengths and vulnerabilities, especially Alice who came alive on the page for me and stole my heart. If you’d like to read more of Alice and Belle’s journey, you can purchase the book here on or after November 16, 2010: http://www.loose-id.com/Beguiled.aspx
Thanks for allowing me introduce your readers to my characters!
Paisley Smith ~ http://paisley-smith.com ~ Aren’t you just a little curious?
Caution some of this interview is intended for people 18 or over only!!
1. When did you decide to become a writer?
I’ve always wanted to be a writer, but my when I told my father, he said something along the lines of “Sure, if that’s what you want. But writers don’t make any money.” (Um, thanks Daddy.)
Whoa. That kind of put the brakes on pursuing it, although teachers in school encouraged my creative writing. I found myself writing romances for my friends during class, and writing fanfic long before I knew there was even a term for it. In college, to save myself from death by boredom during a particular class, I wrote my first novel–that’s still unfinished today. A few years ago I heard about this thing called NaNoWriMo (www.nanowrimo.org), and I decided to try my hand at writing again. The rest, as they say, is history.
2. What character in your books would you say you are most like?
In my urban fantasy novella, COLD BLOODED, Commander Davana Black is a no-nonsense, kick ass, take no prisoners kind of woman. (Well, demon.) She’s all about getting the job done, whatever it takes, no matter who she has to step on along the way to accomplish her mission. When she’s finally confronted with attraction, and subsequently love, for a man she didn’t expect, she doesn’t know what to do with it and manages to flub the whole thing up.
There, ladies and gentleman, is the story of my early years with my husband. Fortunately for me, he’s just as tenacious and we’re still going strong eleven years later.
3. If you were going to choose a different profession what would you be?
I’m a nurse by day and an author by night. If I had to do things differently, I’d probably become a chef by day and remain an author by night. Cooking is all about a different type of creativity. Certain tasks can also be very meditative, and therefore, conducive to getting the writing juices flowing.
4. Can you tell us about any books you have in the works? Any sneak peeks?
Caution 18 or over only!! By continuing to read this you are acknowledging you are 18 or over.
HUNGER AROUSED is my debut with Carina Press. The story came as a stroke of
inspiration while watching a television series about gladiators. However, one of the secondary characters, Ezra, has a past that keeps me awake at night. I’m working on a sequel that in a roundabout way has to do with him. Meet Sebastian and Alice in this small snippet from PASSION AROUSED.
He licked his lips, pleasure searing him when he touched sensitive incisors with the motion. “A kiss right here…please…”
“Yes, kiss me. More.”
She didn’t know what permission she’d given him, but it couldn’t be his concern right now. His need had grown frenzied. His appetite about to consume them both. Sebastian lowered his mouth to her neck, to the rapid beat lifting her skin ever so slightly, and let his nature take over.
Alice arched into him when he pierced her flesh with teeth elongated and hurting. Her whimpering moan became an orgasmic scream when he pulled. He heard the pleasure in it, felt her shudder ripple into him. His hand stroked over the soft skin of her belly, trailed to the rounded curve of her breast. Her nipple beaded beneath his fingers, and he used it to elongate her orgasm. He teased the tip, pinching it when she twisted beneath increasing pressure. And all the while he fed.
Growling into her neck kept him focused. Kept the tug at the base of his spine from turning into an all out loss of control. His dick became steel, trapped between their bodies, throbbing in tune with the teeth sunk deeply into her flesh. He would not come like this. Not from a simple feeding, but never before had blood tasted so good to him. Felt so good. Velvet on his tongue. For every tug, his mind cleared. The heat cooled. The sexual appetite hadn’t abated, but he could think now. Every ounce of her blood warmed through him, healing and soothing.
He didn’t want to take too much; this human deserved more than to be food, but he’d become an addict to her taste. And hearing her throaty moans, her breathy cries as she shuddered, he knew the very soul of her.
5. Since the Holidays are approaching quick can you tell what Thanksgiving food you can’t go without?
I’m a sucker for sweet potatoes. Every year I try a new variation of sweet potatoe casserole/Candied sweet potato. Forget dessert. Just pile on that stuff, loaded down with marshmallows, and I’m in Heaven.

Welcome Readers!
Join us in meeting some of the new authors on the scene every Friday. Hear what the newbies have to say and discover the voice of a new author.
1) What makes your first book Naughty?
PHYSICAL EDUCATION is about as Naughty as a book can get. It’s based at a sex school, which leaves plenty of room open for in-the-bedroom, or in-the-backseat play! While the main storyline is M/F, there’s also a bit of M/M and F/F action.
2) Things that go bump in the night, Scary Real in your book or Scary Sexy?
As an erotic thriller, the plot line in PHYSICAL EDUCATION, unfortunately, can be Scary Real. People at the school start to go missing, and it’s up to undercover agent Reed to find out what’s happening. What he discovers can and does happen in real life.
That said, there’s plenty of Scary Sexy happening, too. Those who don’t follow the rules may be afraid of a little spanking and public display …
3) What is the scariest part of sending out that first book?
For me was having no one actually read it before I submitted. Can you believe that?
After years of working on newspaper and magazine staffs where someone always reads your work, and then taking writing classes and being part of critique groups! Finally, at the end, the book became so Naughty I didn’t want any of my regular friends to read it. I was afraid of the reaction. Fortunately, the editor came back with “love it.”
4) What is your naughty car of choice?
My husband owns this old Mango-painted Jeep. It’s not so much the vehicle, but where it used to take us while we were dating – the tops of the hills in Laguna Beach, where we could sit out alone under the stars and watch the city lights, and maybe get a little Naughty.
5) What did you do to celebrate when your first book was published?
I’m totally a champagne gal. When a book gets published, there are so many steps to celebrate: Proposal being accepted, finishing a chapter (hiccup), completing novel and sending it off, copy editing being done (hiccup), and then there’s the actual – out in print! And then comes the interviews … Excuse me while I go fill my glass.
Thanks so much for having me. Naughty in the Backseat is a total different experience, and hopefully, I can visit again with another release!

A Hot Guy, Hot Sex and a Harley! Could there be a better combination? Naughty in the backseat is excited to have Adele Dubois with us today to talk about her experience with a Harley. Thanks for being here.
Pardon My Ride by Adele Dubois
The only time I ever drove a Harley, I crashed it into the bushes of my best friend’s front yard. It would have made a great America’s Funniest Home Videos clip if the show had been invented then. I was lucky I wasn’t hurt, didn’t damage the bike, and didn’t break the foliage. No harm done, except to my pride.
I was under strict orders from my father not to ride on the back of Bobby’s
motorcycle. Ever. Period. Since I was a teenager, and always looking for ways to bend the rules without breaking them, I rationalized that learning to drive my ex-boyfriend’s bike would not defy my father. The front of the bike was not the back. Right?
So the seventeen-year old hottie who’d dumped me for my sixteen-year-old best friend gave me driving lessons while I watched from the safety of her front lawn. After five minutes of intense Driver’s Ed, I hopped on his bike and took off down the street. I did fine until I turned around and then tried to brake to a stop. Uh-oh. That’s when I crashed into the shrubbery.
Little did I know my dad was watching from the picture window of our house. He walked outside and stood in the backyard for a clear view of me racing down the adjoining street. I was having a ball riding along in my skimpy shorts and tank top (no helmet, of course), reveling in the freedom only a fourteen-year old girl could know.
When I got home later that day, my father asked me if I’d ridden on the back of Bobby’s bike. His voice was as stern as I’d ever heard it. I looked him straight in the eye and told the God’s Honest Truth. “No, dad, I didn’t ride on the back of his bike.” I would never lie to my father.
“Were you driving his bike?” Dad asked. His eyes narrowed and I realized he knew everything. Parents really do have eyes in back of their heads. With nothing left to do but tell the whole truth, I admitted what I’d done. “But I didn’t ride on the back,” I added, trying to be helpful.
That’s when my dad did something I’ve never forgotten. He laughed. I thought I was headed to my room for the rest of the summer. Instead, my father chuckled, seemingly impressed by my novice driving skills. Then he warned me to never, everdo that again and I knew he meant business. I was so happy for the pardon that I never rode another motorcycle. Instead, I bought a ragtop convertible. My fictional heroes like Antonio in REV ME UP and Tomas in REV ME TWICE have ridden the Harleys for me.
Crystal is a bad, bad girl in the most delicious ways. She tries to be good and is tempted to commit to her Navy MP boyfriend, Tomas, but has no experience with an exclusive relationship or healthy family structure. She likes her life as a cable TV stripping weather girl and sex party host, and resists conforming to the traditional lifestyle Tomas craves. Without her weekly ménages and wild orgies, can she become the partner Tomas wants?
When Crystal receives death threats, a media frenzy erupts. During a break-in, the threatening letters are stolen, erasing evidence that thwarts an arrest. Tomas sports Crystal away on his Harley to protect her, but a deadly crash changes everything. Faced with the choice between self-interest and self-sacrifice, Crystal must decide if she will embrace a new life with Tomas or walk away.

Today lets talk toys, playing with toys and buying toys – no, not the sort you get in Toys R Us or down the chimney at Christmas. I’m talking ‘sex toys’, playing with sex toys, buying them, using them and what we think of them featuring in the books we read.
Some of you may flush or feel embarrassed, but I hope you’ll stay and I hope you’ll post comments at the end, maybe some of you will even share tips about toys on the market – anonymous if you prefer. Because even if you don’t want to leave your name it is fine to talk about these additions to our sex lives, it is fine to own them and use them. Toys are great, they’re sexually liberating for many and can spice up relationships to dizzying levels and save stale marriages from years of dullness and routine. We should celebrate the fact that some very inventive companies out there take the time to do research and invent them, manufacture and sell them – okay, I agree, some are ridiculously expensive, but can you put a price on a truly satisfying bedroom session and a great orgasm? – I guess that’s a whole other blog!
Most people know about the basic toys available. Vibrators and handcuffs, blindfolds and feathered ticklers, but here’s a list I’ve compiled of some of the others I can think of;
Cock Rings. Dildos. Paddles, Handcuffs. Whips. Anal Beads. Butt plugs. Nipple Clamps, Sex Swings (take a little more preparation) Vibrating tongue rings. Remote control Vibrators and Panties. Double ended vibrators for girl fun. Sexy DVD’s. Prostate massagers for him. And get this one I saw recently for sale ‘Death by Orgasm – the Fang Bang Vibrator’ Phew!
As I was compiling this list I was thinking about some of the toys I’ve used in my books. Ticking them off in my head as I went along. A surprising amount have featured and I pondered for a moment on why this might be the case.
Mmm?
Then I cast my mind back to the first piece of erotic romance I had published. It was a story called ‘Madam President’ – it actually won first place in a competition and one of the conditions of entry was a sex toy had to feature (the competition was organised by www.lovehoney.co.uk ). In this story I had the British PM playing a very naughty game with a remote control vibrator to persuade the first female president of the US to agree to his global warming policy. Hee, hee, such naughty fun in the Oval Office – you can read this story for free by following the link on my website by the way.
So perhaps this is where my habit of toys claiming starring roles in my stories started.
What else has featured since then – scratching head and pulling thoughtful expression – oh yes, paddles and handcuffs in ‘Shared’ a hot ménage set in Cardiff featuring the luckiest woman on earth. Sexy DVD’s and a big, black vibrator in ‘Thief’, he uses the vibrator on her for extra fun. In ‘The Mother of all Hen Nights’ – a steamy fairy tale about Cinderella’s hen night in a BDSM club, I’ve got, nipple clamps, butt plugs, paddles (engraved with the princes emblem for extra branding!) handcuffs attached to the ceiling, sex shows, thigh length boots, gags. Phew! Got a bit carried away there didn’t I?
I wrote a story for Rachel Kramer Bussel’s newest release ‘Orgasmic’ called ‘Making Shapes’. It’s about a sculptress who moulds real life body parts and one day becomes besotted with the cast of a man’s penis she’s made, it’s just so perfect, big and shiny, twisted with thick bulging veins, two tiny freckles on the head, just to the right of the slit… sometimes I worry about my own imagination! So she in effect made her own sex toy, a very talented young lady.
I like to read about toys in stories too. Lora Leigh uses plenty,
remember the things Clint and Morganna get up to in Dangerous Games? And in Kristina Lloyds ‘Asking for Trouble’ a banana is star of the show in one chapter – bit squishy for me but it makes for fabulous reading material.
Of course some of these toys maybe considered hard core play. But in all my stories, as should most definitely be the case in real life, both partners are consenting and have a wonderful time, no matter what toys they’re playing with. Yes, even Madam President has enormous fun.
So where to buy these delightful inventions? Well, the wonders of the internet and discreet brown boxes have to play a leading role. But also I’ve been to several parties over the years, girls only, where these products are passed around and giggled over with a glass of wine. Orders are taken discreetly but in my experience everyone is usually boasting about what they’ve bought, all good fun until morning at the office and the financial director’s assistant, recently divorced is wondering why she told everyone she fancied a go with that ‘We Vibe Clitoral and G-spot vibrator’. Poor girl – she blushed for a week.
Somewhat of a novelty a while ago was a party for men along the same theme. I quizzed my resident hunk about it when he came home. ‘Business deal’ he muttered ‘of course no-one knows what I ordered’. Seems they were all quiet and serious and very secretive, not what I would have expected at all – and don’t ask what he bought, ‘cause I’m not telling *big grin*
So the wonder of toys, just because we’re adult doesn’t mean we can’t play with them anymore. And as for reading and writing about them, I’m so glad it’s okay to do that and experience the fun of play voyeuristically through characters experiences, because let’s face it, there are some toys out there that would make your eyes water!
Do share your thoughts, and be sure to swing by my website www.lilyharlem.weebly.com to read my FREE stories and see what else I have been up to, including this week’s new release ‘Mattress Music’ where the hot lyrics become the rock and roll toy of the moment.
Thanks for having me.
My e-book ‘Mattress Music’ is released today at Ellora’s Cave. It’s the first in a set of three short stories based in London focusing on ‘rock and roll’ in a very literal sense! Watch out for the other two books coming in the New Year, ‘Mirror Music’ and ‘Ménage à Music.’
Here’s the blurb
Is it possible to lose one’s ability to orgasm? Nina has. Lately, her fun weekend hook-ups have been more “ho-hum” than “hot damn”! It doesn’t help that she has three flatmates and is forced to play loud music to mask the sounds of her lovemaking. Talk about distracting! Of course, there’s another reason Nina’s less than satisfied these days…she’s just having a hard time admitting it.
It’s a good thing she’s met Ian, then. Not content to be a weekend hook-up, Ian is set on giving Nina what she’s been missing while making her admit what she needs. His talented fingers—and other body parts—are up to the task. But Ian’s not admitting a few things himself. Turns out his fingers can do more than make Nina’s body sing.
When she discovers his secret, it’s time for both of them to face the music.
